Overseas students called for more efforts

First secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Vo Van Thuong met with outstanding Vietnamese students in Sydney on August 31 under an Australian political exchange programme.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thuong, who is also President of the National Youth Committee, informed the students of the situation and youth movement in their homeland.

“The Vietnamese Party and State pays special attention to Vietnamese students abroad, considering them a force to improve the quality of the country’s human resources,” he affirmed.

The youth leader called on Vietnamese students in Australia to overcome difficulties and exert more efforts in study to later make better contributions to the national industrialisation and modernization cause.

On this occasion, Thuong awarded certificates of merit to 11 students for their outstanding contributions to Vietnamese students’ movements in Sydney .

There are around 2,000 Vietnamese students studying at almost 10 universities in New South Wales, Australia.
