Viet Nam, Laos enhance coordination at multilateral forums

(VGP – 20/02/2012) - A Laos delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Bounkeut Sangsomsack is now on a three-day working visit to Viet Nam from Feb. 19 to seek ways to enhance coordination at multilateral forums.
During his stay, Deputy FM Bounkeut Sangsomsack, who is also Head of the Lao Border Committee and Chairman of the Laos-Viet Nam Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting, paid a courtesy call to Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Foreign Minister Minh expressed his pleasure at the fine developments in the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Foreign Minister highlighted the important significance of the Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012 initiated by State President Truong Tan Sang and his Lao counterpart Choummaly Sayasone.

Stressing the need for the two neighbors to further enhance coordination at multilateral forums, Foreign Minister Minh also spoke highly of Laos’ international integration policy and affirmed that relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies would spare no effort to assist Laos in successfully organizing the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting which is scheduled for November 5-6 this year in Vientiane.

Deputy FM Bounkeut Sangsomsack thanked Viet Nam for sharing valuable experiences in hosting international events.
