Viet Nam, Sri Lanka to extend cooperation
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his visiting Sri Lanka counterpart, Prof. Gamini Lakshman Peiris co-presided over the meeting.
The two sides agreed that the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka is developing fruitfully, especially after the visit to Sri Lanka by President Truong Tan Sang on October last year.
They held that the exchange of high-level visits is of special significance in boosting the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides reviewed outcomes of the implementation of agreements inked at the second session and shared their viewpoints on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
They expressed their pleasure at the outcomes of the third session and agreed that all contents approved at the meeting will create important foundations for the two countries to further develop their traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation.
After the third gathering, the FMs witnessed the signing of an agreement on air transport services between the two countries.
The fourth session of the Vietnam-Sri Lanka Joint Committee on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in 2014.
Earlier, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh and Sri Lankan Secretary of External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama co-presided over the Senior Officials Meeting on July 16.
