Hanoi, September 10th 2015

1. PM Nguyen Tan Dung to pay working visit to Laos
At the invitation of Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will pay a working visit to Laos and attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the potash mine in Khammouane from 13 to 14 September 2015.

The visit aims to further strengthen the special bond and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States of Viet Nam and Laos through high-level exchanges. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the potash mine in Khammouane, the largest Vietnamese investment project overseas. This will give a strong boost to the economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, both sides will also exchange views on international and regional issues of common interest.

2. DPM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to pay official visit to China and attend CAEXPO and CABIS
At the invitation of Member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, Excellency Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo Member and Deputy Prime Minister will pay an official visit to China and attend the 12th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Guangxi, China from 15 to 19 September 2015.
During this visit, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Zhang Gaoli in Beijing. He will also pay courtesy calls to other Chinese leaders and attend the Opening Ceremony of the 12th CAEXPO and CABIS in Guangxi.

The CAEXPO, together with the CABIS, hosted once every year in Nanning, Guangxi by China and 10 ASEAN countries is one of the top 10 expos in China. This year, the Expo will feature more than 4,000 booths, among those are about 200 booths from 100 Vietnamese businesses. 

3. DPM Vu Van Ninh to pay working visit to UK, Switzerland and EU
On the 5th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and the UK and the 25th anniversary of the Viet Nam-EU diplomatic relations, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will pay a visit to the UK, Switzerland and the EU from 9 to 18 September 2015.

In the UK, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will attend Viet Nam Discovery, a series of program hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy to the UK commemorating the 5th anniversary of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership. This series will include such events as the Viet Nam Economic Forum, the Viet Nam-UK Education Cooperation Forum and the Viet Nam Festival. In Switzerland, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will meet with the Director-General of WTO, leaders of the Advisory Center on WTO Law and the Secretary General of UNCTAD. In Belgium, he will meet with the EU Trade Commissioner, the Vice President of the European Commission and the Vice President of the European Parliament.


1. Asked for comment on the current Europe’s migrant crisis, MOFA Spokesperson Le Hai Binh said:

“We share the common concern with the international community on the issue of migrants in Europe. We believe that relevant nations should instantly adopt emergency measures and seek long-term remedies to resolve the issue in a humane manner, in accordance with international agreements and without harming peace, stability in the region and the world over.”

2. Responding to a question on the recent incident where a Vietnamese man was stabbed to death in Osaka, Japan, MOFA Spokesperson Le Hai Binh said:

“The Vietnamese Consulate in Osaka promptly worked with local authorities to verify the information in details and taking necessary protection measures for the Vietnamese nationals involved.

According to the latest information from the Consulate, the Japanese authorities have announced the victim died in the incident is Nguyen Trong Tuan. They also inform that since the examination and investigation is in progress, further information is not yet available. Earlier, in the morning of 9 September, the Consulate sent representatives to Osaka Public Hospital to visit Trinh Hoai Nam, one of the two injured victims. His health condition is now stable. The Consulate has also requested the local authorities for permission to visit the second injured victim.
The Vietnamese Consulate in Osaka is still working closely with local authorities to update news on the case, help the family of the deceased, and protect the rights of the victims involved. The Consulate has also reminded the Vietnamese community in Osaka to comply with local law and avoid recurrence of such incidents.”
