UPDATED NEWS REGARDING CONSULAR PROTECTION OF VIETNAMESE CITIZEN (10 Apirl 2017)


The death case of a Vietnamese citizen in Japan Immigration Center in Ibaraki Prefecture
According to the Japanese immigration authorities, a Vietnamese national named Nguyen The Hung was found dead in Japan Immigration Center in Ibaraki Prefecture in the morning of March 25, 2017. Right after the incident occurred, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan contacted and requested the Japanese authorities to investigate and take proper action to deal with the case. The Japanese side informed that they had been working on the cause of the death and would answer the Embassy when the official conclusion becomes available. 
Concurrently, the Embassy has been in contact with the family of the deceased to guide them on the procedures for entering Japan and repatriating their beloved.
The death case of a Vietnamese girl in Japan
According to the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan, the body of Le Thi Nhat Linh was found in water drainage canal of the city of Abiko, Chiba, Japan in the morning of March 26, 2017. 
In March 26 afternoon, family of the victim came to the police department of Abiko to identify the body.
As soon as the news of the incident broke out, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam in Japan promptly contacted and asked the Japanese authorities to investigate the case to find the cause of death, trace the culprit and to put the case on trial strictly in accordance with the law. After working with the police department of Abiko city, the Embassy has learnt that preliminary result of the post mortem pointed that the girl was slain.
The Embassy sent its staff to view the crime scene and to the family to extend condolences. The Embassy will be in close contact with the family to follow the development as well as to assist them in dealing with the aftermath and other related procedures.
News on consular protection of Vietnamese citizen March 30, 2017
Consular visit to Doan Thi Huong by the Embassy of Viet Nam and her lawyer.
In the morning of March 29, 2017, representative of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Malaysia made a consular visit to Doan Thi Huong in Kajang prison and introduce Lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, one of the two lawyers who will be legal representatives of Doan Thi Huong and defend her along the legal proceedings in Malaysia.  With the consent of Doan Thi Huong and her family and the coordination of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Malaysia and the Viet Nam Bar Association, Lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik and Lawyer Naran Singh are arranged to defend Doan Thi Huong.
Mr. Hisyam Teh Poh Teik is commended by the Malaysia Bar as one of the top lawyers in penal laws. Mr. Naran Singh is known as an experienced lawyer in penal cases.
The lawyers viewed this special case with their utmost attention and pledged to provide the best legal assistance to defend Doan Thi Huong.
During the visit, Doan Thi Huong informed that her health was stable and the treatment was in good order. She pledged to cooperate with the lawyers.
