Malaysia seized two Vietnamese fishing boats and 28 fishermen
According the Embassy of Viet Nam in Malaysia, immediately after the capture by the Malaysia side of two fishing boats and 28 fishermen from Vietnam, the Embassy has sent a diplomatic note to Malaysian authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maritime law enforcement agency, the Royal police, to inquire for official information.
The Embassy is following the development and verifying the information relating the case in order to provide proper consular protection for the fishermen concerned.
Japan confirmed arrest of seven Vietnamese nationals
The Vietnamese consulate in Osaka, Japan on April 07, 2017 informed that the Osaka police confirmed they had made an arrest of 7 Vietnamese in Osaka. However, according to the police, the investigation was under way and therefore no further information would be available at the moment.
The consulate will continue to actively follow the situation and in close contact with Japanese authorities to ensure that legitimate rights of the Vietnamese citizens involved are properly protected.
Singapore revealed cause of death of a Vietnamese national
The Embassy of Viet Nam in Singapore was informed by the Singapore Police Center that cause of the death of a Vietnamese who had earlier been reported to fall from the 15th floor of Boss Hotel on the morning of March 29, 2017, was a suicide and that no clue of a criminal case had been found.
At the time being, the Embassy has been working with local authorities to complete required legal procedures and assist the family of the deceased to take care of the aftermath.
