News on Consular Protection of Vietnamese Citizen – April 13, 2017
According the Embassy of Viet Nam in Malaysia, at the court hearing on April 13, 2017 of the murder case of a Korea nation in which a Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong was one of the suspects, the Sepang Court of Selangor state, Malaysia accepted an application by the prosecutors to allow them more time to complete their documents. The court decided to set May 30, 2017 as the date for the re-mention of the case.
On the morning of April 13, 2017, the Embassy sent a representative to join the Malaysian and Vietnamese lawyer to sit in the court to represent Doan Thi Huong.
In the time to come, the Embassy will continue to coordinate with the Vietnam Bar Federation, the relevant agencies at home and the team of Malaysian and Vietnamese lawyers to ensure fair and objective court proceedings for Doan Thi Huong as well as to protect her legitimate rights.
