China requested to deal with the consequences of the attack on Vietnamese fishermen by Chinese vessels

Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry requested the Chinese side to take measures to promptly prevent and put an end to similar wrongful acts, conduct investigation and severely punish the killers and in the short run repatriate the Vietnamese detainees and the bodies of the dead, deal with all the consequences, compensate for the Vietnamese fishermen’s losses of life and property, cooperate with Vietnam to investigate the case and report to the two countries’ leaders. In the meantime, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry proposed to organize a meeting of the Joint Committee on Fishery in the Tonkin Gulf to soon stabilize the situation in the common fishing areas in the Tonkin Gulf and to prevent recurrences of similar incidents so as to ensure strict observation of the Agreement on Fishery Cooperation in the Tonkin Gulf between the two countries.
