Question: On June 15th, 2009, the US State Department Spokesman made a statement protesting the arrest of Mr. Dinh and requesting his immediate and unconditional release. What is your view on this?
Answer:
The statement dated June 15th, 2009 of the US State Department Spokesman is baseless and interferes in the internal affairs of Vietnam. It goes against the joint declaration between the two countries’ leaders on the US respect for Vietnam’s national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. The statement causes much discontent among the Vietnamese people.
The relevant agencies of Vietnam have recently met with representatives of the US Government to clarify the issue and requested the US side not to interfere into the internal affairs of Vietnam./.
