Vietnam Public Resents S.J. Police Violent Manhandling of Vietnamese student

ANSWERS QUESTION ON 27th OCTOBER 2009

                

Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Spokesperson Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga on October 27th, 2009 made the following statement in response to the news from the media that said a number of San Jose police officers manhandled violently when busting Vietnamese student Ho Phuong:

"Vietnamese public reacts with resentment to the news. Use of violence and abuse of power by the police is an unacceptable conduct that deserves serious punishment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco to look into the incident and take necessary steps to provide consular protection for Mr. Ho Phuong."
