Regular Press Conference by MOFA’s Spokesperson on 10th June , 2010
Announcement:
1) Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan visits Qatar, June 9 – 12.
The visit is at the invitation of Crown Prince of Qatar Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and aims at further enhancing the friendship and multi-sided cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.
Madam Vice President is scheduled to hold talks with the Crown Prince, meet with Qatar high-ranking leaders and visit a number of economic and cultural sites.
2) Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai to visit the Kingdom of Norway and the European Commission, June 12 – 18.
DPM Hai will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Norway at the invitation of the Government of the Norwegian Kingdom from June 12 to 16.
The DPM will have talks with Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry to discuss measures to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, adding depth and effectiveness to the bilateral relations. The DPM will pay courtesy calls to Norwegian leaders, attend the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnamese Embassy in Norway, the Viet Nam – Norway Economic, Trade and Investment roundtable and visit several local economic corporations.
The DPM will visit the European Commission (EC) in Brussels and meet with EC Commissioner for Trade Karel de Gutch on June 18 to discuss ways and means to boost Vietnam - EU relations.
3) The 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM-43), the Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC) and the 17th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF 17), July 19 – 23.
Vietnam will host AMM 43, PMC and ARF 17 July 19 - 23 in Hanoi with participation of Foreign Ministers from ASEAN member states, ASEAN dialogue partners and ARF member countries. Early on, ASEAN Senior Officials (SOM) will meet from July 15 – 18.
The meetings will focus on the following topics: accelerating the implementation of ASEAN Charter, building the ASEAN Community, enhancing political and security cooperation and cooperation between ASEAN and its partners.

4) The East - West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Forum in Quang Tri province, June 26.
The Forum is co-organized by the provincial People’s Committee of Quang Tri and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 26. The Forum aims at reiterating the EWEC's important role and position to the development in regions, provinces and cities along the Corridor; recommending policies and solutions to remove obstacles in attracting investment, promoting trade and tourism, and taking advantage of the international cooperation for economic development of the Corridor countries.
Representatives from ministries, departments and localities of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as well as from institutes, universities, Vietnamese and overseas enterprises are expected to participate in this event.
