Regarding the situation of Vietnamese citizens in Ivory Coast in the context of escalating conflict and violence in this nation, on 7th April 2011 Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga said:

“Vietnamese government is very concerned about the situation of its citizen living in Ivory Coast.

Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has instructed the Embassy of Viet Nam in Morocco which is also accredited to Ivory Coast and Viet Namese missions in regional countries to promptly collect information on the number and the situation of and to provide assistance to Vietnamese citizens in Ivory Coast.”
