Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung to visit Kingdom of Cambodia and co-chair the 2nd Vietnam - Cambodia Investment Promotion Conference on 23rd - 24th April , 2011
At the invitation of Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Hun Sen, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung will pay a working visit to Cambodia from 23rd to 24th April 2011. On April 24th PM Nguyen Tan Dzung and his Cambodian counterpart will co-chair the 2nd Vietnam - Cambodia Investment Promotion Conference in Phnom Penh.
This visit of PM Nguyen Tan Dzung is aimed at strengthening Viet Nam – Cambodia relationship under the guideline “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability”. During the visit, PM Nguyen Tan Dzung is expected to hold talks with Cambodian leaders to exchange and review investment cooperation between the two countries since the 1st Viet Nam – Cambodia Investment Promotion Conference held in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2009. The two sides also map out orientations and measures to boost investment, trade and tourism between the two countries in future.
During the visit to Viet Nam of Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun, did the two sides discuss an agreement on the East Sea dispute resolution? If so, please provide more details about this agreement?
“During the visit to Viet Nam by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister and Head of Governmental Delegation on Border Negotiation Zhang Zhijun (April 17th to 20th 2011) , Viet Nam and China agreed to sign Agreement on basic guiding principles for resolving issues at sea. The agreement will lay out foundation for settlement of specific issues in the East Sea through peaceful negotiation on the basis of international laws, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea and Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC).
The two countries are actively discussing details of this agreement. The signing date has not been decided yet; however, both sides express their determinations to sign this agreement soon.”
