Viet Nam possesses historical and legal foundations to assert her sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos. Viet Nam’s holding of the elections in Truong Sa archipelago is of her internal affair and regular practice to ensure the rights of the Vietnamese citizens be exercised in line with Vietnamese Constitution and law.

Please provide your reactions to the Taiwanese strong protest against Viet Nam’s calling Taiwan a province of China.

Answer:

Viet Nam maintains and develops economic, cultural, people and non-governmental relations with Taiwan. The current use of the name Taiwan is in line with such consistent policy.
