REGULAR PRESS CONFERENCE
(Hanoi, 12th May 2011)
1. Intenational Conference 'The Future of Asia':
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai will head a Vietnamese delegation to attend the Nekkei’s 17th International Conference 'The Future of Asia' in Tokyo on 26 May 2011 at the invitation of Nikkei President and CEO. DPM Hoang Trung Hai is expected to deliver a speech at the conference on Viet Nam's efforts in responding to climate change, Viet Nam Japan Cooperation, Mekong Sub-region and Japan Cooperation on response to the impacts of climate change. DPM will also participate in bilateral activities.
2. The 16th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Indonesia (May 25-27)
Permanent Vice Minister Pham Binh Minh will lead a Vietnamese delegation to attend the 16th Ministerial Conference and the Commemorative Meeting of the 50th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 25 -27.
The Conference is of great importance. Under the theme: "Shared vision on the Contribution of NAM for the next 50 years", it will review the 50 years of the Movement, set forth orientations for the coming time as well as put forward measures to strengthen the role and position of the Movement in the dealing with global issues and protecting legitimate rights of developing NAM states, advancing the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the world.
3. The 8th Asia Media Summit (AMS 8)
The 8th Asia Media Summit will take place on May 24 and 25 in Hà Nội. This is the first time the AMS is held in Việt Nam by Voice of Vietnam. Themed “Digital Media everywhere: Repositioning Broadcasting” the Summit will be attended by 500 participants, including CEOs, Executive Directors, managers, policy-makers, experts and specialists in radio and television from 52 countries and territories.

4. The 1st ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference:
Việt Nam will host the 1st ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference (ACMMC-1) in Hà Nội From May 26 – 29, convening Chiefs of Military Medicine of ASEAN countries.
ACMMC-1 is a Vietnamese initiative aimed at expanding military – national defense cooperation between ASEAN countries to respond to security challenges in the region as well as play a part in successfully turning an ASEAN Political and Security Community into reality by 2015, thereby contributing to peace and stability in the region.
Under the theme: “ASEAN Military Medicine Cooperation towards the future” the conference will focus on the following issues: 1. Feasible measures for military medicine cooperation between ASEAN armies in the near future; 2. Discussion on two of Vietnam’s initiatives on “Exchange of Young ASEAN Military Medicine Doctors” and “Orientations for ASEAN Military Medicine Cooperation” to increase understanding, create opportunities to exchange experience, medical professional knowledge between young ASEAN military doctors and at the same time identify priority areas and cooperation orientations for ASEAN countries’ military medicine in the future.
