Viet Nam ensures health care for its people
On December 8th 2011, in response to AP’s question about statement by UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health Anand Grover, Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, said:
“Upon concluding his visit to Viet Nam, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health Anand Grover highly appreciated Viet Nam’s remarkable socio-economic achievements as well as determination, effort and seriousness of the Vietnamese Government in ensuring health care for its people, especially the poor and vulnerable ones. The Rapporteur also highlighted several challenges to Viet Nam as a middle income country in international integration process.
It is a humane treatment, for the health and interest of drug users and sex workers to have them treated at education and rehabilitation centers in accordance with the laws.
Rehabilitation decisions are issued and implemented following strict and objective administrative procedures under a close supervision mechanism. As shown in reality, rehabilitation has been effective in helping drug users stay away from drugs, recover and reintegrate into life.”
