Vietnam welcomes Australian investors: NA Chairman

Vietnam welcomes Australian investors to the country, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong told former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating in Hanoi on August 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – The NA Chairman thanked the Australian Government for its cooperation with and assistance to Vietnam , saying the two nations shared good prospect for fruitful cooperation.

He also spoke highly of Mr. Keating’s contribution to boosting the two countries’ ties, expressing his hope that the former PM would continue with his efforts to help promote the bilateral ties.

Australia is now among Vietnam’s 10 most important partners with 174 direct investment projects worth over 1 billion USD in total.

Vietnam and Australia have experienced positive changes in labour and education cooperation, NA Chairman Trong said, citing that Vietnam has sent 9,000 students to study in Australia.

Former Australian PM Paul Keating congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development and spoke of his concern about challenges Vietnam is coping with, especially those in finance and banking./.
