Vietnam boosts parliamentary ties with Russia, Lithuania

VNA - A delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations, led by Deputy Head Ngo Duc Manh, visited Russia from June 22-25 and Lithuania from June 25-27.

In Russia , the delegation held talks with officials of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee and the Russian Federation Council, and discussed ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation between the two countries with the Russian Friendship Parliamentarians Group with Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia .

The two sides focused on creating a political-legal environment for bilateral investment and direct cooperation between Vietnam and Russia ’s provinces and cities.

In Lithuania , the Vietnamese delegates talked with representatives of the country’s National Assembly External Relations Committee, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Transport and the Law Research Institute to find solutions to restoring Vietnam-Lithuania friendship and cooperation.

For its part, Litva asked Vietnam to sponsor the ASEM transport meeting to be held in capital Vinius in October and to support its candidacy for the general director position of the United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

It also suggested more exchanges between the two countries’ representatives and promotion of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Last year, the two-way trade value reached only 28 million USD.
