Vietnam attends Sri Lanka communist party congress

VNA 29/08/2010 - The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) sent a delegation to the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka (CPSL) held in Colombo from August 27-29.

The head delegate, Vuong Thua Phong, who is Deputy Head of the CPV Central Committee Commission for External Relations, and his entourage were warmly welcomed by the host Party General Secretary Dew Gunasekara.

The CPSL leader highly spoke of Vietnam’s achievements in renewal and external relations policies as well as the CPV’s increasing role and prestige and sound leadership in the national construction.

During their stay, the CPV delegation also met the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary, Maithripala Sirisena. The Vietnamese communists also held meetings with leaders of the Foreign Ministry and other ministries to boost multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Sri Lanka./.
