Costa Rican diplomat visits Viet Nam

(VNA - 04/07/2012) - Costa Rica Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Carlos Roverssi is on a visit to Viet Nam from July 1-7 on the occasion of attending the Viet Nam-Latin America Forum on Investment and Trade.
 
On July 4, Roverssi and his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Phuong Nga held the first political consultation between the two foreign ministries.

At the event, Nga affirmed that Viet Nam wanted to boost the friendship and cooperation with Costa Rica in various fields, including politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications and agriculture.

She suggested the two sides increase the exchange of visits by officials at all levels, including businesses in order to strengthen mutual understanding.

The Costa Rica diplomat congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements during national construction and development. He agreed that the two sides should seek measures to foster bilateral ties in line with their strengths and areas of potential development. The Government of Costa Rica will consider recognising Viet Nam as a market economy, he affirmed.

After exchanging ideas on several international and regional issues of common concern, the two Deputy Ministers agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, helping raise the two countries’ regional positions and on the world stage.

At the meeting, Nga and her Costa Rica counterpart signed an agreement between the two Governments on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

Earlier, from July 1-3, Deputy Minister Carlos Roverssi visited Ho Chi Minh City where he met with Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Manh Ha, and toured the Saigon Intel Hi-tech Zone and the Tan Cang Saigon Company.
