THE 8TH REGULAR PRESS CONFERENCE
(Hanoi, July 24th, 2008)

ANNOUNCEMENT
1.President of Switzerland to officially visit Vietnam on beginning of August 2008
At the invitation of President Nguyen Minh Triet and his spouse, the President of Switzerland Pascal Couchepin and his spouse will make an official visit to Vietnam in the first week of August.
The visit is to further enhance the cooperation between the two countries, especially in education, training, science, technology, trade and investment.

2.Japanese Foreign Minister Komura Masahiko to visit Vietnam and co-chair the 2nd Meeting of Vietnam-Japan Joint Commission for Cooperation (25/07/2008)
On 25/07/2008, Japanese Foreign Minister Komura Masahiko will visit Vietnam and co-chair the 2nd Vietnam-Japan Joint Commission for Cooperation. This will be his first visit to Vietnam since assuming office.
At the 2nd meeting of Vietnam-Japan Joint Commission for Cooperation, the two sides will examine cooperation sectors between the two countries, reviewing the implementation of the agreements reached at the first meeting and discuss measures to enhance the implementation of high-level agreements between the two countries and strengthen cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries.

3.Foreign Minister of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to visit Vietnam
At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem, DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun will make an official visit to Vietnam from 25-27/7/2008. This will be his first visit to Vietnam since assuming office.
During the visit, the two sides will discuss directions and measures to implement the agreements reached by high-level leaders of the two countries to strengthen and boost the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The two sides will also exchange views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

4.Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh to participate in the Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Conference
From 27-30/7/2008, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will attend the 15th Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Conference in Tehran, Iran.
The main theme of this Conference is “Solidarity for Peace, Justice, and Friendship”. The Conference will focus on international and regional politics, security, and economy; review the implementation of the decisions made in the 14th Summit of NAM, and adopt the Documents of the Ministerial Conference that include measures to strengthen solidarity, coordinate the Movement’s positions on major international issues, effectively implement the La Havana Action Plan and prepare for the 15th Summit of NAM.
