POPULAR ALTERNATIVE PARTY - PAP COMMUNIQUE SOLIDARITY WITH THE HEROIC PEOPLE OF VIETNAM
In 1975, the people of Vietnam defeated the most powerful country in the world, the United States backed by the Western allies. Vietnam's victory in the struggle for national liberation and reunification under the leadership of the world revolution´s teacher, Ho Chi Minh recognized by UNESCO as
"Hero of national liberation of Vietnam” and “Outstanding man of culture of Mankind” proved to the world, especially the patriotic and progressive forces that it is possible to win over the forces of imperialism despite material and military inequality. In that victory, international solidarity including solidarity of the people of Panama played an important role.
The upcoming August 10 marks the 50th anniversary of the tragedy of Agent Orange, a shameful event for mankind as on that day in 1961, US war planes sprayed toxic chemicals onto Vietnam’s territory. That operation lasting for 10 years caused serious devastation to the environment and civilians.
Over 5 million Vietnamese people were contaminated and despite the passing of time, thousands of people are continuing to be affected by the barbarities committed by the imperialist forces.
Although the Government of Vietnam and solidarity organizations have made great efforts to care for the victims, but resources are still insufficient. The attitude of those responsible for this massacre, mainly the U.S. and Down Chemical and Monsanto companies deserves the world's condemnation. The Popular Alternative Party together with the forces of solidarity of the world requires International Tribunals to ask the perpetrators to pay for the consequences of their policies and businesses that set the value of money over human lives.
In accordance with the principles of solidarity and proletarian internationalism the Popular Alternative Party welcomes the call by the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Panama and invite the party members, party sympathizers, friends and the people of Panama in general to extend material support to and solidarity with the victims of biological warfare conducted by the U.S. against the people of Vietnam.
PAP requests all donations go to the United Leadership of the Party or directly to the Embassy of Vietnam in Panama at Telephone number 264-2551.
Long live solidarity with the people of Vietnam!
Bring to justice those responsible for the tragedy of Agent Orange.
Let’s demand the U.S. pay for the crimes committed against the people of Vietnam.
Long live solidarity between the people of Vietnam and the people of Panama.
Panama, 23 July 2011
