Rubber company crosses border to Laos
The Dak Lak Rubber Company has made bold moves and proved that its huge investment plans could bring successes both at home and abroad.
The company has been conducting a 30 million USD project to plant 10,000 ha of rubber in three provinces of the neighbouring country under an agreement between the Governments of Viet Nam and Laos.
Investment has also been poured in another 5,600 ha of rubber and 650 ha of cashew-nuts, thus providing jobs for almost 1,700 Laotians. The company has also helped improve its workers’ living conditions through education, healthcare and road upgrading projects.
In 2008, the company plans to expand rubber areas by between 2,000 and 2,500 ha, growing an additional 1,000 ha of cashew-nut, 200 ha of coffee and 300 ha of forests in the three southern Lao provinces.-(VNA)
