Singaporean Ambassador Lim Thuan Kuan held a reception in Ha Noi on August 9 to mark the 42nd National Day of the tiny island state.

Kuan said he was satisfied with the relationship between Singapore and Viet Nam and that his nation is looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on an upcoming visit.

In reply, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Cao Duc Phat said the issuance of the joint statement on comprehensive cooperation for the 21st century and the signing of a framework agreement on Viet Nam-Singapore ties will usher in a new stage of development in bilateral relations.

“Relations between Viet Nam and Singapore will develop bilaterally and multilaterally in the interest of the two nations and for the sake of ASEAN cooperation as well as peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region,” emphasised the minister.

He concluded by saying that the upcoming visit to Singapore by PM Dung would bring bilateral relations to a new high.-(VNA)
