Senior military officers end Myanmar visit


Ha Noi (VNA) - A senior military delegation headed by Sen. Lieu. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh, Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army, on April 7 ended a five-day friendship visit to Myanmar.

The visit was made at the invitation of Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, Vice Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar.

Sen. Lieu. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh exchanged views with Vice-Senior General Maung Aye. The two sides informed each other about their socio-economic situation, in particular about Viet Nam's national renewal process and Myanmar's economic development.

Maung Aye described the visit as an important contribution to developing friendship and cooperation as well as mutual trust and understanding between the two armies and peoples.

The Vietnamese military officers called at a military institute, a military museum and some historical and cultural sites in Myanmar./.
