Viet Nam, Laos to build on people exchanges

(VNA) - Viet Nam and Laos should increase the use of jointly run workshops, talks and exchanges between central organisations, localities and grassroots organisations in order to preserve and develop the traditional rapport between the two nations.

That was the focal point of a speech delivered by Choummaly Saynhasone, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President while receiving a visiting delegation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Training, in Vientiane, on May 14.

The Lao leader appreciated the cooperation between the Vietnamese commission with the LPRP’s Department of Information and Training in the arenas of ideology, politics and culture.

He also hoped that the two groups would continue to work in the positive manner that they had enjoyed in the past.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by To Huy Rua, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of the Commission, has been visiting Laos since May 12.

During their working trip to the country, the delegation met with Vientiane municipal authorities, visited the Lao National Political and Administrative Academy and several economic and cultural establishments in Vientiane./.
