Viet Nam, Laos work on business cooperation


Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart Somsavad Lengsavad have agreed to promote investment cooperation in hydro-electricity, mineral exploitation and industrial crops.

At a reception in Ha Noi on September 9, Deputy PM Hung said that Viet Nam and Laos enjoy a special relationship and a multi-faceted cooperation which have contributed to the two countries’ economic growth and political stability.

To bring two-way trade value between Viet Nam and Laos to 1 billion USD by 2010 and 2 billion USD five years after that, the two nations should finalise tariff preferential policies, the Vietnamese deputy PM said.

Deputy PM Somsavad Lengsavad thanked Viet Nam for its assistance to Laos’ economic development projects.

The two deputy PMs were also briefed on the results of a conference to promote investment in Laos that took place in central Nghe An province. (VNA)
