Czech legislative leaders welcome Vietnamese PM in Prague
Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Miloslav Vlcek and first Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Parliament Pitr Pithart praised Vietnam’s achievements in the Doi Moi (Renewal) process while receiving Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung in Prague on September 13.
The two legislative leaders spoke highly of the relations between the two countries and legislative bodies and expressed their hope that these relations will further develop to meet national aspirations and interests.
Mr Dzung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of strengthening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the Czech Republic. He thanked the former Czech and Slovakia and the present Czech Republic for their valuable assistance to Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and construction.
He briefed his hosts on the results of talks between him and his Czech counterpart Mirek Topolanek and said they had agreed on specific measures to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas such as politics, economics, trade, investment, banking, sci-tech, culture and education.
“As Vietnam is perfecting its legal system in line with the market economy and international economic integration, legislative bodies of Vietnam and the Czech Republic should cooperate closely and share experience in legislation while enhancing people-to-people diplomacy to promote mutual understanding,” said Mr Dzung.
Later the PM delivered a speech at the Vietnam-Czech Business Forum and met with representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community in Prague.
In the evening, he met with Czech President Vaclav Klaus before leaving for Warsaw, continuing his European tour of Russia, the Czech Republic and Poland. (VOV)
