Croatia attaches importance to developing relations with Vietnam
Croatia attaches great importance to developing relations with Vietnam, said Croatian President while receiving Vietnamese ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Quoc Dung recently.
Vietnamese ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Quoc Dung on December 14 presented credentials to Croatian President Stjepan Mesic. At the ceremony, President Mesic conveyed his regards to Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet and congratulated Vietnam on being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.
The Croatian President highlighted Vietnam’s economic achievements and expressed his hope to visit Vietnam next year. He said both countries should promote cooperation in infrastructure, ports, shipbuilding industry, and tourism. President Mesic also briefed participants on Vietnam’s Dien Bien Phu victory as well as its anti-US resistance war, expressing his admiration for Vietnam’s victories in the war and the country’s development today.
For his part, Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung thanked the President for his good sentiment to Vietnam and pledged to cooperate with Croatian and Vietnamese agencies to prepare for the President’s upcoming visit to Vietnam in 2008.
Ambassador Dung also paid courtesy visits to senior officials from the Croatian Foreign Ministry. At the meetings, both sides discussed measures to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations. (VOV)
