State President greets newly-accredited ambassadors

State President Nguyen Minh Triet separately received the newly-accredited ambassadors from China, Bangladesh and Slovakia in Hanoi on Dec. 16, following a credentials presentation ceremony.

During his talks with Chinese Ambassador Sun Guoxiang, President Triet stressed that both Vietnam and China are led by their Communist Parties and are on the path to socialism, hence the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam are always optimistic about the prospects for relations between the two countries.

Vietnam wants to sign agreements with China regarding the management of their common land borders as soon as possible, with a view to transforming the border area into one of peace, friendship and cooperation, he said.

The President went on to say that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing its friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China , and wishes to strengthen bilateral ties in the economy, trade and investment.

“The traditional friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and China is a valuable asset that needs to be carefully preserved and strongly upheld,” President Triet emphasised.

The State leader congratulated the Chinese people on their achievements in implementing their open door and reform policies, and their construction of a socialist nation imbued with unique Chinese characteristics, believing that China ’s future development will make practical contributions to peace and stability in the region and the world at large.

Sun said the Party, State and Government of China treasure the development of their ties with Vietnam, noting that the two countries’ people have created a warm friendship through the history of revolutionary struggles in each country.

China and Vietnam agreed to increase levels of political trust and long-term economic cooperation for their mutual benefit under the motto of “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability and looking towards the future” and the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners,” the diplomat said.

In particular, the leaders of China and Vietnam decided to raise their bilateral ties to the level of a comprehensive and strategic partnership during Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s official friendship visit to China last May, he added.

The ambassador pledged to do his utmost to deepen the comprehensive and strategic partnership between China and Vietnam . He conveyed best regards from President Hu Jintao to President Triet and the other leaders of Vietnam.

Receiving the Bangladeshi and Slovakian ambassadors, Maroof Zaman and Peter Svitek, President Triet asserted that Vietnam wishes to strengthen its relations with all nations, with priority given to its traditional friends, including Bangladesh and Slovakia .

He urged the newly-accredited ambassadors to cooperate with the relevant Vietnamese agencies to increase the exchange of visits at all levels in order to share development experiences and boost mutual understanding for the sake of stronger ties.

The President affirmed that the relevant Vietnamese agencies will create favourable conditions for the ambassadors to fulfill their tasks, with the hope that they will actively contribute to expanding the existing relationship between Vietnam and their respective nations./.(VietnamPlus)
