Vietnam attaches importance to cooperation with UK

VNA 05/11/2010 - Vietnam has always attached importance to cooperation with the UK , especially in economics, trade, investment, education and training, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

PM Dung made the remark while receiving out-going UK Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent in Hanoi on Nov. 5.

PM Dung praised the Ambassador for his active contributions to bringing the relationship between the two countries to the strategic partnership.

He said he agreed that Vietnam and the UK should sign a plan of action on strategic partnership to boost bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, official development assistance, science and technology.

Ambassador Mark Kent expressed his impression on the Vietnamese people and land and pledged that in any positions he would actively support the expansion of cooperation between the UK and Vietnam .

He expressed his joy at cooperation in education between the two countries as many Vietnamese students are studying in the UK and the country is preparing for the establishment of a university in central city of Da Nang .

In addition, the two countries had effectively cooperated in migration and fighting trans-national crimes and the UK was ready to help Vietnam in coping with climate change and enterprise management.

The same day, Ambassador Mark Kent was also received by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai./.
