Viet Nam does best to foster ties with Laos

(VNA - 7/6/2011) - Viet Nam always attaches importance to Viet Nam-Laos special relations and does its best to foster those ties, affirmed Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Secretary Trong, who doubles as National Assembly Chairman, made this affirmation while receiving Cheuang Sombounkhan, Minister-cum-Chief of the Lao Government Secretariat, in Hanoi on June 6.

The Vietnamese Party leader expressed his joy at the development of the Viet Nam-Laos special solidarity, which has seen efficiency thanks to remarkable contributions by the Government Offices of the two countries.

Trong requested the two offices to boost exchanges of information and experience and coordinate to implement agreements reached at the 33 rd session of the Viet Nam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

He asked Cheuang Sombounkhan, who is also Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, to convey his best regards to Lao Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone.

For his part, Cheuang Sombounkhan, expressed thanks to Viet Nam for its valuable assistance to Laos , both in the past and at present.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the Vietnamese people would continue to rapidly and sustainably implement the national renewal process and basically build the nation into an industrialised country.

He affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people are determined to develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries./.
