Viet Nam’s membership of the
commission shows the international community’s high appreciation toward
the country’s achievements in social development over the past years as
well as its contribution to the global social growth.
Being the commission’s member, Viet Nam will have chances to make
more contributions to policy making and goal and action plan building on
a global scale, promoting social progress and strengthening information
exchange among governments in developing and implementing social
development policies on the national scale.
The
Commission is holding its 50th annual session at the UN Headquarters in
New York from Feb. 1-10, focusing on poverty eradication, full and
productive employment and socially inclusive policies.
Established in 1946, the Commission is a functional body of the Economic
and Social Council. Its 46 members are elected for four-year terms in
