PM Dung urged both sides to effectively realize the aforesaid agreements to contribute to the development of the bilateral ties.
He affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to boost the bilateral relations with Japan and voiced his support for national defense cooperation between the two armies.
General Shigeru Iwasaki expressed his hope that Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for national defense cooperation, particularly in humanitarian assistance, military medicine, anti-terrorism, search and rescue and information technology.
Regarding East Sea issue, General Shigeru Iwasaki said Japan advocates the settlement of disputes through peaceful negotiations and on the basis of international law.
Earlier on the same day, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army General Do Ba Ty held talks with Chief of Joint Staff of Japan’s Self Defense Forces General Shigeru Iwasaki in Hanoi.
At the talks, both sides briefed each other on their countries’ socio-economic developments and reviewed the two armies’ cooperation in recent years.
They discussed measures to promote national defense relations, including exchanging visits by high-level delegations, hosting dialogues on national defense policies, training personnel and providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
They also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, for the sake of peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world.
