Viet Nam children's choir wins three international prizes

(CPV - 15/07/2011) - Viet Nam’s Sol Art Choir, including 37 singers from six to sixteen years of age, has won a gold medal at the 7th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival held in Wernigerode, Germany, according to choir director Dang Chau Anh.

The festival drew the participation of 1,200 choristers from 43 choirs from 17 countries and territories around the world.

The Vietnamese choir won gold for its folklore performance, while also receiving an Audience Prize and an Outstanding Performance award.

Founded three years ago, the Sol Art Choir won medals at the first Viet Nam International Choir Festival in the ancient city of Hoi An, and the World Choir Championship in South Korea as well as many other competitions around the country.

Choir director Anh said that she and her fellow choir members had felt extremely moved and proud of the fact that Vietnamese folk music had been received so positively.
