Foreign investment into tourist destination development to be requested

Ha Noi, (VNA) - The Viet Nam Administration of Tourism (VAT) will in 2005 cooperate with localities to organise conferences to call for foreign investment into national tourist areas.

These targeted tourist areas include Ha Noi, Ba Vi-Suoi Hai (northern Ha Tay province), Ha Long (northern Quang Ninh province), Cat Ba (northern Hai Phong city), central Thua-Thien Hue province, Van Phong-Dai Lanh (southern coastal Khanh Hoa province), and Phu Quoc (southern Kien Giang province).

The VAT will invest 550 billion VND in building and upgrading tourism facilities in localities across the country. It will also appeal for official development assistance (ODA) investment to develop tourism facilities in the East-West corridor.

Last year, 18 foreign-invested projects worth more than 110 million USD were licensed to develop Viet Nam's hotels and tourism sites.
