Viet Nam, India discuss cooperation in fisheries

New Delhi (VNA) - Vietnamese Fisheries Minister Ta Quang Ngoc and Indian Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar discussed fisheries cooperation between the two countries during Ngoc's recent visit to India.

The two sides sought to come up with a comprehensive cooperation programme which, among other things, addressed developed countries' tax impositions on shrimp products.

The Indian Minister thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their assistance to and cooperation with India, especially Viet Nam's support for India's application to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

Minister Ngoc said he highly regarded India's potential and technology and expressed his hope that India would continue its cooperation with Viet Nam, particularly in aquaculture management and technology. He said that many Indian-supported agricultural projects in Viet Nam have proven beneficial.

During the India visit, Minister Ngoc and his entourage visited some aquaculture research, rearing and processing establishments and met with Indian scientists and entrepreneurs in the field.
