Viet Nam affirms strong protection of women's rights

(VNA)- Dang Tran Nam Trung, a representative of Viet Nam's UN mission, emphasised that Viet Nam has always respected and promoted women's rights during a recent UN Human Rights Committee session in Geneva, Switzerland.

Trung said the Vietnamese Government has created favourable conditions for women to take part and play an active role in society, thus ensuring their equality with men.

He also highlighted the Government's efforts in this regard. He said laws have been continuously updated, so that women have the ability to take control over all aspects of their lives, political, economic, and social.

Viet Nam will do its best and is willing to cooperate with the international community in protecting and promoting women's rights, Trung said.

He took this opportunity to call for international efforts to curb discrimination, domestic violence and human smuggling to which women throughout the world remain victim.
