Organisations mark US's Independence Day
(VNA): The Union of Friendship Organisations (UFO) and the Vietnam - US Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City met in Ho Chi Minh City on July 8 to mark the 229th Independence Day of the United States and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - US diplomatic ties.
Ho Thi Minh Nguyet, President of the municipal UFO, and Seth D. Winnick, Consul General of the US, reviewed major events and achievements in the relationship between Vietnam and the US over the past 10 years.
They said they both believed that with these achievements and with the commitments made during the recent meeting between Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and President George W. Bush, bilateral ties will be lifted to a new height of development on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Along with the celebration of the establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties, Ho Chi Minh City also carried out many activities to mark the 10th anniversary of setting up friendly and co-operative relations between itself and San Francisco city.
