Ha Noi promotes trade in Washington D.C.
At a working session with the Mayor of Washington D.C. Anthony A. Williams, the two sides shared their experiences in urban management, social investment and environmental protection. They also pledged to boost trade and investment activities between the two capital cities.
A high-level delegation from Washington D.C. will visit Viet Nam in early 2007, Trieu revealed in an interview by Viet Nam News Agency.
The delegation also worked with Eric John, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and visited the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
A seminar titled "Trade and Investment Opportunities in Ha Noi" was organised by the Phoenix Group and the Ha Noi Department of Planning and Investment on August 14. The seminar drew the participation of almost 100 US businesses, including the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIMBANK), the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Mitsubishi International Corporation, Noble Vision and Oracle.
At the seminar, an EXIMBANK representative said that the bank is ready to provide loans for US businesses to export information technology (IT) products to Viet Nam.
Rudi Williams, President of the Phoenix Group, said that his group supports Viet Nam's effort to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and expressed his wish that American enterprises will further invest in Viet Nam.
After Washington D.C., the delegation expects to visit San Francisco and Las Vegas. It will hold talks with the two cities' mayors and Silicon Valley Network Association as well as some US financial consultancy and recreational service companies./.
