Viet Nam, Switzerland hold human right dialogue


Geneva (VNA) – The Foreign Ministries of Viet Nam and Switzerland held the 6th annual round of their dialogues on human rights in Bern , Switzerland , on March 13-14.

At the dialogue, the two sides exchanged information and their points of view on various issues of common concern.

The officials focused their discussions on the two countries’ cooperation at the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council as well as other international organisations.

Other issues relating to criminal law, gender equality, and rights of minority groups were also put on the table.

The two sides shared the same view on many issues and agreed to increase technical cooperation in discussed issues.

The Vietnamese side reiterated the country’s basic policies on human rights, its willingness to hold dialogues and boost cooperation with other countries in human rights issue based on equality and mutual respect, and its efforts to ensure people’s religious and belief freedom.

The Swiss side appreciated Viet Nam ’s achievements in various spheres, particularly in socio-economic development.

They committed to further cooperation programmes with Viet Nam and give technical and financial assistance to areas that serve the country’s demands.
