Vietnam-Venezuela relations bear fruit

VOV - Vietnam-Venezuela relations were highlighted at a seminar held in Hanoi on March 3 by the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association, the Venezuelan Embassy in Vietnam and Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

The event was attended by VOV General Director and Chairman of the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association, Vu Van Hien, Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), Vu Xuan Hong, Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui and many political and economic experts inside and outside the country.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr Hong praised the organisation of the seminar as part of activities to celebrate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s victory in his recent referendum to continue to run for the election to Presidency. Mr Hong also voiced his support for Venezuelan people’s cause of building socialism.
During the three-hour seminar, participants highlighted the fruitful results of bilateral cooperation and praised President Hugo Chavez’s role in developing socialism towards an equal, democratic and progressive society. Despite their geographical distance, Vietnam and Venezuela share many things in common and enjoy mutual support and goodwill.

Over the past ten years, the two countries have witnessed new developments in various fields, including politics, economics, culture and society, particularly in the oil and gas industry, they added.

Ambassador Jorge Rondon Uzcategui stressed that with income from the oil and gas industry, the Venezuelan government has invested in social programmes to improve people’s daily lives and strengthen regional cooperation.

Venezuela wants to share its experience with Vietnam in oil exploration and production to help the country become a Venezuela in Asia, while learning from Vietnam’s experience in agricultural production, he said.

Concluding the seminar, VOV General Director Vu Van Hien affirmed that socialism is the best social regime for humanity. He expressed his belief that socialism can overcome all obstacles on the road to success and will strengthen solidarity among counries.

Mr Hien also emphasised that Vietnam and Venezuela have a common view to developing socialism and this creates a foundation for the two countries to boost cooperation in the future.
