State, Gov’t leaders extend sympathy over NZ’s earthquake

VNA 24/02/2011 - State President Nguyen Minh Triet on Feb. 22 extended condolences to New Zealand’s Governor General Anand Satyanand over the devastating earthquake in the country’s city of Christchurch.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also sent a message of sympathy to his New Zealand ’s counterpart John Key.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem cabled a massage of condolences to NZ’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.3, rocked the South Island city on February 22, killing at least 75 people./.
