Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai attends celebration of Viet Nam-Switzerland ties
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Hai stated that the celebration is an important event in the bilateral ties between Vietnam and Switzerland , which are connected with each other by a friendship and sympathy for many decades.
The Vietnamese people will never forget close sentiments and great support that the Swiss people granted to Viet Nam during the struggle for national independence and unification in the past as well as the current national development, he stressed.
In Geneva , an agreement ending the Indochina war and restoring peace in Viet Nam was signed in 1954, he noted.
Hai said over the past 40 years, the friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Switzerland have been consolidated and developed in all aspects, including politics-diplomacy, economics-trade-investment, development cooperation, culture, education and training.
Switzerland has become one of Viet Nam’s leading economic partners in Europe and in the world, he added.
Swiss Economic Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann affirmed that Switzerland will continue strengthening the friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.
On the occasion, the Mayor of Bern city symbolically handed over the city’s clean water project for Viet Nam’s northern mountainous province of Cao Bang .
On September 15, Deputy PM Hai left for Viet Nam, successfully concluding his six-day official visit to Switzerland. /.
