Argentina boosts multilateral ties with Viet Nam

(VNA - 21/01/2013) - Argentina wishes to increase comprehensive cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in agricultural processing, energy, manufacturing, tannery and leather footwear production, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has said.

The Argentinean leader made the statement during separate talks with leaders of the Vietnamese Government and National Assembly in Ha Noi on January 21 on her official visit to Viet Nam.

Her visit, from January 18-21, is an important landmark in the two countries’ traditional friendship, and will lift bilateral ties to a new height.

She expressed her delight with the developing ties between the two countries, and said she hopes the host will create favourable conditions for Argentinean enterprises to invest in Viet Nam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung suggested Viet Nam and Argentina strengthen political and diplomatic relations, and support each other at regional and international forums, especially within the United Nations.

He went on to say that the two countries should foster cooperation in economics, trade, investment, agriculture, science-technology, culture and education. and increase two-way trade beyond the current level of 1 billion USD.

Viet Nam welcomes investment from Argentinean businesses, Dung said, affirming Vietnam’s policy to develop relations in a practical and effective manner.

He expressed his appreciation for Argentina’s assistance to Viet Nam during the national struggle for independence in the past, and in its current course of construction and development.

Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung told Kirchner that the Chairman said Viet Nam’s National Assembly wishes to develop bilateral parliamentary relations with other countries, including Argentina. It supports and makes every effort to create conditions for the continuous development of the two countries’ ties to benefit people from both countries, as well as for peace and prosperity in the world, he added.

Hung highlighted the results of talks between the guest and Vietnamese leaders, in which the two sides agreed on a number of cooperation issues to improve relations between the two countries./.
