President receives Governor of New South Wales

(Vietnamplus - 09/11/2013) - President Truong Tan Sang gave a reception for Marie Bashir, Governor of the Australian state of New South Wales, in Ha Noi on November 9.

President Sang welcomed the ninth visit to Viet Nam by the Governor, saying that this trip will contribute to promoting the comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and Australia.

He thanked the Australian guest for her contributions to Viet Nam, especially in the health sector.

Viet Nam and Australia have a lot of potential for cooperation in many fields, he said, adding that New South Wales together with other Australian localities and Viet Nam could promote coordination in areas of their strength.

The President asked the Australian state to help Viet Nam’s agriculture in varieties and processing technology in the production of high-quality agricultural products.

For her part, Governor Bashir said Australia and Viet Nam share many conditions for strengthening relations in the health sector due to the increasing number of Vietnamese officials and students coming to Australia for study.

The Governor stressed Vietnam’s contribution to regional and global food security, saying that after her visit, she will work with relevant agencies of New South Wales to promote cooperation with Viet Nam in the application of science-technology in food production./.
