Vice President receives U.S. Vice President’s spouse

VGP – Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan on July 19 welcomed U.S. Vice President’s spouse Jill Biden, who is paying a visit to Viet Nam.

Vice President Doan lauded achievements in Viet Nam-U.S. relations in all fields in the recent years, especially the setting up of the Comprehensive Partnership in July 2013. 
She praised the U.S. for enhancing cooperation with Viet Nam in education, addressing war aftermath, removing bombs and mines left from the war, detoxifying Agent Orange/Dioxin contaminated sites, and supporting people with disabilities.

She also highlighted the two nations’ collaboration in increasing the role of women and promoting gender equality and people-to-people exchanges for the sake of the two peoples and the maintenance of international and regional peace, stability, security, cooperation and development.

In her first trip to Viet Nam, Mrs. Jill Biden highly valued positive development in the two sides’ relations, saying it helps both overcome the past and head to a brighter future.

The Vietnamese Party General Secretary’s recent visit to the U.S. created a foundation to deepen the Viet Nam-U.S. relationship in the coming time, she revealed.

She thanked Viet Nam for assisting the U.S. in searching for U.S. soldiers reported missing in action during wartime in Viet Nam and asserted support for Viet Nam in fields of education, humanitarian and addressing post-war consequences.
