Citizen Protection Bulletin (23rd March, 2020)
(MOFA) - Amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, many countries and territories have imposed restrictions on, or closure of international flights and transits. This has caused many Vietnamese passengers to be stranded at international airports.
In view of this development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been providing regular updates and travel warnings for Vietnamese nationals. The Ministry particularly recommends citizens to minimize international travels orand returninging to Viet Nam at this time; to comply with the epidemicCOVID-19 control measures ion inof their countries of temporary stay; to regularly update themselves on the regulations of their countries of temporary stay and carriers. Vietnamese nationals are reminded to ensure that their necessary travel documents are available (particularly, health certificates, if any). Failure to provide all necessary travel documents may result in denial of transit, entry or exit by foreign authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also instructed the overseas Vietnamese overseas missions to monitor the situation regularly, and proactively collaborate actively with the competent authorities, international airports and carriers at their accredited countries to provide specific information on Viet Nam's policies for entry. The Ministry reiterates that Vietnamese citizens may return to Viet Nam without the need to obtain requiring any certificate from the Vietnamese representative mission accredited to their country of temporary stay. The Vietnamese representative missions shall also examine information investigating the situation of Vietnamese citizens being stranded at airports, and timely shall provide such necessary support as is .
