Question: Please advise Vietnam’s reaction to the news that Taiwan conducted military maneuver at the sea area in the west of Ba Binh(Itu-Aba) island of Truong Sa archipelagos in two days 12-13 February, 2007?
Answer:
Vietnam possesses sufficient historical evidence and legal foundation to assert its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. All activities in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos undertaken without consent of Vietnam are in violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty over these areas.
Vietnam protects these activities and demands Taiwan not conduct similar actions in the Truong Sa archipelagos of Vietnam.
