On 17 March 2023, in response to a question on the trilateral security pact between the US, the UK and Australia (AUKUS), Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated that:

“Peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world is the common goal of every country, and countries are responsible for contributing to this goal.

Nuclear energy needs to be used and developed for the purpose of peace and socio-economic development of countries. The use and development of nuclear energy must ensure utmost safety for humans and for the environment.We hope that countries will actively and responsibly contribute to this common goal for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.”
